World Day for Consecrated Life

This Sunday we celebrate World Day for Consecrated Life. We recognize and give thanks for those who have consecrated their lives to God and the Church through the vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience. Some join a religious congregation or a secular institute. The consecrated life is one way that men and women live out their baptismal commitment as followers of Jesus.

Praying With the Mystics -
Experiencing Quiet Prayer

The mystics wrote of their experience of prayer in order to support the rest of us on our journey to God. This 6-week series features the teachings of the Christian mystics on prayer and guided practice in Quiet (Centering) Prayer. The course assumes that participants have had a basic introduction to Centering Prayer or Christian meditation and have engaged in at least a beginning practice.

Praydreaming:
Ignatian Center Prayer Workshop

Join Fr. Mark Thibodeaux, S.J. for a discussion of the discernment of spirits, the “motions of the soul,” on Saturday, February 11, from 9:00 - 11:30 a.m. at Rockhurst University. Fr. Thibodeaux is the featured speaker for the Ignatian Spirituality Center of Kansas City Winter Prayer Workshop. Discernment, says Fr. Thibodeaux, is a process of “praydreaming.” By learning how to “let God dream in us,” we can begin to touch those deep desires and be more attuned to the movements within our deepest beings. The program fee of $20 per person covers all materials and scholarships are available. Please email info@ignatiancenterkc.org or call 816-523-5115 x 212. Please include the names and contact info of those wishing to attend.

Announcing:
A New Guardian Angels Cookbook!

We also would like all sorts of ethnic recipes and, of course, some of the good old Sunday dinner recipes. Recipe collection boxes are by the doors of the church. You can also email recipes to Ann Marie Fontes at fontesann@gmaiil.com or Diane McGovern at dmcgovern.gakc@sbcglobal.net . If you have questions, call Jo Alvarado at 913-798-9224.
